A. Felter, of Cobleskill, Schoharie county, New York, who is also still living.
David W. Jones was born at St. Louis, Missouri, July 16,1893, and received his early education in the public schools
of Worcester, New York. He was graduated from the Worcester High School in the class of 1912, then took up his
preparation for his chosen career at the Pratt Institute, of Brooklyn, New York. His education completed, Mr. Jones
became identified with the firm widely known as the Art Metal Construction Company, in the capacity of efficiency
engineer, remaining for a period of two years. Meantime, while still in school, he enlisted as a private in the

the rank of lieutenant. Thus the World War found him ready to give efficient service, and enlisting in the United
States navy, he was assigned to duty in New York City, guarding the various bridges. Upon his return to civilian
life Mr. Jones became associated with T. I. Lacey & Son, of Binghamton, as an architect, continuing with this
firm from October, 1919, until the spring of 1920, then, for a time, was active as road superintendent with Stento
& Sarafini. He thereafter was associated with Hoedley & Giles, civil engineers of Binghamton, whom he assisted
in the preparation of the zoning of the city of Binghamton. Mr. Jones is now general manager of the Johnson City
Brick Company, Missouri. On April 15, 1922, Mr. Jones was appointed by Mayor Wilson superintendent of buildings,
and in connection with his other interests is fulfilling the duties of this responsible position in the public
service. Mr. Jones is commander of the local post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, is a member of the American
Legion, the Woodmen of the World, and the Young Men's Christian Association, and is an attendant upon the services
of the West Presbyterian Church of Binghamton.
David W. Jones married, in 1917, Emmie J. Gerber, of New York City, and they are the parents of three children:
David, born October 30, 1918; George Steven, born July 5, 1920; and Marjorie Rose Ann, born March 13, 1922.
